How surrogacy works

The gestational mother is a woman with her own story, connections, and decisions. She participates in a process that is also part of her life. Her well-being and questions deserve attention throughout the journey.

In surrogacy, the embryo is created in the lab through in vitro fertilization and then transferred to the gestational mother's uterus. The eggs and sperm can come from you, your partner, or donors, depending on your case's needs. The eggs do not belong to the gestational mother.

The team explains the medical options and the emotional and legal aspects of the process. You can ask questions, take your time, and decide with the information you need.

A journey we take with you

These eight stages help you understand how the process is organized. Each story has its own pace. We explain what can progress, what needs waiting, and how we support each person.

  1. 01

We start by listening to you

In a 45-minute video call, you can share your story and concerns. We guide you on the options for your case and answer your questions. You don't need to have everything decided to talk.

  2. 02

    We understand your situation

The team reviews your story and any studies you may already have. If you need more, we explain what it's for and where you can do it, even if you live outside Colombia.

  3. 03

We review the agreements with you

Before starting, we review the budget and contract with you: what they include, what is paid separately, and what happens if the plan needs to change. You will have time to read, ask questions, and understand each agreement.

  4. 04

    Meeting the gestational mother

Meeting the gestational mother also means listening to her expectations and sharing yours. We support you in understanding the evaluations made, discussing how the process is organized, and resolving questions from each party.

  5. 05

    Preparation and care

The medical team supports the preparation for treatment and explains to the gestational mother the care and appointments she needs. You will also be able to understand what is happening and how to support this stage.

  6. 06

    Laboratory

In the lab, the eggs are fertilized, and the development of the embryos is monitored. The team explains the results and the next steps. If your process includes genetic testing, it is done at this stage.

  7. 07

    Transfer and follow-up

After the transfer, the wait begins until the pregnancy test. The team supports the gestational mother and helps you understand the results. If the pregnancy is confirmed, medical follow-up continues, and you can check updates on the process in our app.

  8. 08

    Birth and early days

We help you prepare for your journey and understand what happens around the birth. The legal team coordinates the process in Colombia. Support continues for the gestational mother after childbirth.

The gestational mother and her well-being

When you think about starting your family, it's natural to want to know the person who will participate with you in this process. The gestational mother has her own story, questions, and a life that also deserves care.

Her health, emotional well-being, and decisions are part of the support. Here we tell you how we assist her before, during, and after pregnancy.

  • Health care

The team reviews her health history and previous pregnancies, conducts medical assessments, and explains the care she needs.

  • A space to talk and be heard

Psychological support allows her to discuss her expectations, emotions, and questions that arise before and during pregnancy.

  • Independent legal advice

The gestational mother has independent legal advice from yours. She can review agreements, understand her rights, and ask questions before deciding whether to participate.

  • Support after childbirth

After birth, support continues for the gestational mother and for you. Her care needs also have a place in this stage.

The legal part, step by step

The medical process takes place in Colombia. Before proceeding, you also need to know what requirements your family will have in the country where you live.

Our legal team guides you on the Colombian part and coordinates information with the lawyer representing you in your country. We help you understand what you need to review and prepare for your case.

A budget you can understand

It is included

  • Fees for the medical team and laboratory
  • Treatment medications
  • Assessments and support for the gestational mother
  • Pregnancy check-ups and ultrasounds
  • Legal coordination of the process in Colombia
  • Access to our mobile app throughout the process

Quoted separately

  • Your travel and accommodation
  • Consular procedures in your country
  • Genetic study of the embryo, when it is considered in your case.
  • Additional treatments that arise from your case

Before signing, we review with you what the budget includes and what is quoted separately, along with its estimated value. We also discuss situations that could generate new expenses so you can plan and ask calmly.

Questions you can bring to the conversation

  • In this process, the eggs do not belong to the gestational mother. The genetic material comes from those who provide the eggs and sperm, which can be you, your partner, or donors, depending on the case.

The gestational mother experiences the pregnancy and participates in a very important stage in your family's story. Her care and well-being deserve attention throughout the process.

  • Much of the process can be followed from your country via video call and through our app. Your consultant will explain when it may be necessary to travel and what tentative dates are, so you can organize in advance.

  • The team explains how assessments are conducted and how you can meet the gestational mother. You will have space to ask questions and share your expectations. We also guide you on communication and agreements to ensure the process respects everyone involved.

  • If an attempt does not work, the team explains the outcome and the options that may follow. Before starting, we review with you what the contract covers, what might require a new attempt, and what expenses may arise. We want you to have that information from the beginning and support you if a difficult moment arises.

  • Yes. Surrogacy can be an option for a couple of men, with the participation of an egg donor and a gestational mother. We review your medical and legal situation from the start.

The recognition of both as parents depends on the country where you live. That part is reviewed with the lawyer representing you there before proceeding.
